[ut_one_half] Giving away what we have is a privilege. It’s a way for us to reflect in some small way the generosity God has shown us in Jesus. That while he had everything, he gave it all away for us, so that we might have what we could never earn on our own – a relationship with God.

So the way we talk about money, the way we use our money, is a response to God’s grace. Not a response to feeling guilty, or manipulated, or like God will bless us if we give to him, as if he needs anything from us. Giving is about participating in what God is doing in the world, and having the opportunity to show generosity to those around us.

If you’re new to Village, before you consider giving, have a listen to these two talks. The first is from Derek in his series on Grace Changes everything, and it’s about stewardship. The second is from Mark Baddeley, and it dissects our society’s views on wealth and how the Bible responds to it. Both are worth listening to.

If you’re wanting to give to the Future Ministry Fund, it’d be really helpful for us if you could send us an email to let us know. It may be that you’re keen to give, but can’t give until later (eg. tax time or some other time), but so that we commit to those we’re training, knowing people intend to give is really helpful.

If you have any questions about giving, please feel free to contact us and we’ll do our best to answer it. You can see what plans Village Church has for 2015 here.
