After years of Israel spiralling out of control, God steps in to work in a completely unexpected way. Enter Elijah the prophet, who challenges the prophets of Baal to a battle of the gods, with the odds absolutely stacked against him. But this is when God likes to do his best work—which we see best in the cross. When no one expected God to win, that was when he was doing his best saving work: in bringing forgiveness for his people.
